About
The building that today houses the WIX offices has 400 years of history. First mentioned in 1598 as the Great Guild Hall, the building was destroyed by an aerial bomb in 1944. Until 1976, the site remained in ruins.
Architect Gediminas Baravykas was given the task of inserting a modern cinema on this site in the Old Town suburbs, among the historic buildings. The curvature of the façade follows the historic street line, with red and white colours reflecting the dominant colour scheme of the surroundings. Eventually, the cinema ceased to operate, and in 2004 the building was reconstructed, deforming its structure into a shopping and entertainment centre.
The building has undergone several transformations during its lifetime. This latest transformation, thanks to the synergy of WIX’s willingness, capabilities and creativity, is an example of a coherent and sustainable project that responds to the needs of today’s technological world. The office interior is full of objects and spaces for entertainment (games, bicycles, skateboards, bean bags, swings), while the Colosseum, i.e. a circular glass volume in the middle of the premises, is a reflection of the company’s openness policy.
The interior is dominated by transparent spaces and panoramic views. These are tools aimed at creating a link with the long history of a place in a contemporary context.
