Authors

ARCHITEKTAI – nežinomi, 1900–1903 m.

About

• At the beginning of the 20th century, this building, designed by an unknown architect, was built according to a typical school design approved in St. Petersburg at that time;

• The magnificent three-story building belongs to the style of historicism, but during its construction, it was considered as a conservative form, because at the beginning of the 20th century, a wave of modern style had begun in Vilnius;

• The central part of the main façade is separated by a central avant-corps, and the majestic feeling is provided by the spaciousness of the interior;

• The architecture of the building is influenced by music: its interior changes, adapting the premises to different music teaching needs;

• Inside, an authentic floor mosaic and a wide staircase have remained;

• In the sound studio, you can feel the sounds of spherical (ambisonic) music;

• During the tour, the employees of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre will tell you not only about the constantly sounding building, but also its daily life.
