Tech Park
About
Tech Park is the largest technology center for startups and ICT companies in the Baltic and Nordic countries, located in the territory of the Sapieg Palace Park. This is one of the oldest parks in Vilnius, and, along with the palace, forms an original Baroque urban complex.
In 1808, this place was purchased by the tsarist city administration that established a military hospital complex in the Sapieg Palace estate, as well as in place of the park and garden. This was the first hospital in Lithuania where specially trained medical personnel worked. From 1843, new hospital buildings began to be designed and constructed in the territory.
In the mid-19th century, the hospital was reconstructed, new hospital pavilions appeared that changed the face of the place significantly. In 2016, after the reconstruction, technology startup companies settled here. Most of them are located in the buildings of the former hospital. When adapting the buildings for startups, the structure of the complex was preserved, and the discovered authentic building details were uncovered.
Currently, the ensemble is open to the public, and new extensions complement the 19th-century architectural complex with modern functions and forms, while preserving its historical and architectural value.
