Embassy of the Czech Republic

About

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Vilnius is a highly modern complex of two buildings, a great example of contemporary European architecture. One body of the building houses the embassy’s representative and administrative functions, while the other accommodates the ambassador’s residence, two two-story apartments, and facilities for diplomatic couriers and guests.

The architectural composition of the building pays great attention to both interior and exterior spaces. When designing and organizing the entire complex, consideration was given to the different functions of the building as well as the fact that the building hosts representative events while also accommodating diplomats and guests, which challenged the architects seeking a balance to meet all needs and desires.

Žvėrynas, the green oasis of Vilnius, is the district where the Embassy of the Czech Republic was designed. During the design process, particular attention was paid to harmony with the existing environment – flora and the distinctive green silhouette of Žvėrynas. The main goal of the Czech architects was to combine the accents of the landscape and the building complex into a unified composition.

Today, the Embassy of the Czech Republic is a reflection of Czech architecture in Vilnius, harmoniously integrated into the natural surroundings and representing high-quality work by foreign architects.
