About

St. Joseph’s School is a new, modern building in the Pašilaičiai district, and a space which allows Catholic values and modern educational ideas to flourish. Respect for people and their needs, a sense of community and a different rhythm of life is what this school is all about.

The neutral and laconic architecture of the building’s exterior acts as a backdrop for the future Church of Saint John Paul II and deceptively hides the dynamic spaces inside. The interior spaces are variable – they can be combined or divided, as many of the building’s walls are movable. As a result, the school’s internal structure easily adapts to functional changes and people’s needs, and can accommodate a wide range of activities, becoming a multifunctional centre where activities, people and education intertwine.

The school currently has a kindergarten and a primary school, houses a parish house, and hosts sports training and church services. As a Catholic school, there is a strong emphasis on community and its spaces. The school’s staircase-vestibule is designed to accommodate a large group of people, and at weekends the sports hall is transformed into a house of prayer. These spaces are freely accessible to the community, so the school is open at all times. Children spend all day at school, making the building and the environment it creates an extension of family and home.
