About

• In Žvėrynas district, in a quiet pine forest by Neris, the Composers’ House with a residential quarter was established and was one of the first masterpieces of post-war modernist architecture;

• This complex of buildings, due to its contextuality and harmony with nature, is certainly not noticed by all passers-by;

• The complex reveals the fascination that the architects of Vilnius of that time had with the regional modernity of Finland, while negotiating it with the national identity;

• You will see an original solution of V. E. Čekanauskas: Saturn vacuum cleaners turned into accent lamps!

• This is the first project of the very young V. E. Čekanauskas and his first “school” as an architect;

• The Composers’ House building is decorated with an expressive butterfly roof inspired by Le Corbusier’s work;

• The history of the origin and existence of the complex fascinates and attracts listeners to this day.
