About

• This reinforced concrete factory was intended to encourage the construction of residential houses in Vilnius;

• The factory was built in 1958 on a nine- hectare parcel of land and began to define a new industrial face for the Vilkpėdė neighborhood;

• The mass construction of residential districts in Vilnius was initiated here by using locally manufactured prefabricated blocks;

• From 1958 until the restoration of Lithuania’s independence in 1990, the factory produced reinforced concrete structures. From 1996 until 2021, it was a screw lid factory;

• The conversion and reconstruction of the building – from conception to implementation – was completed in just one year;

• The conversion of the entire Vilkpėdė district started with this building which included a new public space and a gathering place for the entire neighborhood. The factory has gone on to become an integral part of the area;

• The train tracks along the side of the building still carry goods between adjacent warehouses. So, when you go into or out of an office, you’d better be careful and look around before crossing!
