About

• This new building of the Vilnius Academy of Arts was built in the early 1980s and impresses visitors with unexpected Modernist solutions and contextuality;

• Vytautas Brėdikis is an architect well known for his great preciseness that is amply evident in this building. It is full of highly detailed and innovative technical solutions: from a heating system reminiscent of a sculptural work of art to the continuity of choices for handrail brackets to lighting fixtures and color schemes.

• The small bridge leading to the main entrance of the building is one of the connections that form the compositional axis of the building and connect its natural environment with the architectural one;

• The building is constructed on an unusually challenging site that is set on slopes between the Vilnelė River, the Old Town of Vilnius and Kalnai Park. Its spaces were adapted to the site and were designed for construction on different levels;

• Students not only attend workshops and have studio spaces here – they can play billiards in a dedicated room and even enjoy a sauna.
