About

• The TV tower is a symbol of technological progress and innovation in building construction of the 1980s;

• During the construction, without advanced equipment, professionals from different countries were called in, and the architect had to look for opportunities to instill an architectural expression into the building, severely constrained by structural and engineering solutions;

• The laconic shape evoked and continues to evoke associations with the theme of space, which was the axis of the technological breakthrough during the Cold War;

• During the construction of the upper part of the tower, a complex reinforced concrete structure was designed, which was later lifted by cranes to a height of 165 meters;

• The TV tower became one of the most important symbols of Vilnius and the events of January 13th.
