Authors

ARCHITEKTAS – J. Lastovskis, 1868 m.

About

A. Pushkin Literary Museum – a well-preserved villa of mid-19th century wooden architecture, built away from the city center; In the summer of 2020, in the competition organized by the Museum of Wooden City Architecture, the main building of Markučiai manor was included in the top 3 of the most beautiful wooden buildings in Vilnius; The building has retained most of the exterior and interior of the 19th-century manor: exceptional furniture, wall hangings, chandeliers and stoves; The owners managed to disguise and hide all the furniture in the building before World War II so that the arriving soldiers would not destroy them; In the vicinity of the manor park, a cricket ground was installed in addition to four ponds and a conservatory, where exotic plants grew and peacocks were grown; Thanks to the former owner Varvara Pushkin, the A. Pushkin Museum of Literature, which is still in operation, was created here.
