For the duo of architects Ona Lozuraitytė and Petras Išora, the building complex Sodas 2123 is the first such ongoing project in which the usual final design is replaced by the constant curation of existing and new architecture;
The ensemble of the building is created in different eras: at the beginning of the 20th century, a modern settlement was established in this place - Rasos Colony; the first building of the ensemble, which housed the orphanage, was also built at that time;
Modernity is created not only by specific physical elements, but also by their use - details come to Sodas 2123 with their stories, depth, and create a new layer that creates a dialogue with the old layer;
In the external and internal spaces of the building, furniture is gathered from different borrowed objects of Vilnius: Gediminas Avenue pavement elements, columns and granite steps of the former Trade Union Palace, city tree gratings, etc. ;
Since 2019, the Lithuanian Union of Interdisciplinary Art Creators has been established here, involving different residents into this complex: from individual artists to organizations operating in the interdisciplinary field;
The current cultural complex establishment in Rasos Colony has brought more life: the art events taking place in the complex attract visitors, and its courtyard has become a public space for the residents of the district and other citizens.
