The representational, solid–state buildings in Vilnius’ Old Town embody various examples of architectural styles ranging from neoclassicism to postmodernism. These buildings may be considered as representative of political, cultural and social situations in particular periods. Their execution, style and composition, in addition to the integration into the urban environments and their relation to historical context, indicate people’s worldview and reasoning, their relation to the environment, and creative tendencies. During this walk in the streets of Old Town, we will share with you various obscure stories about these architectural styles, explaining what architectural means were chosen to build state institution buildings in different periods.
Tours will be guided in Lithuanian.
