25. MARTYNAS MAŽVYDAS NATIONAL LIBRARY OF LITHUANIA
Centras
The building of the Vilnius County Adomas Mickevičius Public Library is a creation of the multi-layered architecture of Vilnius and its urban culture. Here, the 15th, the 21st and the centuries in-between harmoniously create a unified image. Wall paintings from different time periods, brick walls strengthen through the ages and the library’s rich book collection are what preserves the building’s colourful past. The building that once belonged to the famous Tiškevičiai family opened its doors after a multi-year restoration. It will not disappoint any of the Vilnius‘ architecture lovers and will pleasantly surprise with its old, yet recently awakened from the archives, virtues; its cosy renewed library interior and its unique spirit.
