The Czech Embassy in Vilnius is not only a modern two-building complex but is also an excellent example of modern European architecture in Vilnius. One part of the building is used for representative and administrative functions, while other is the residence of an ambassador and a diplomatic courier, together with 2 two-storey apartments and a guest room.
A lot of attention has been paid to the interior and exterior spaces from the aspect of an architectural composition that emphasises their different functions, and the fact that the embassy both holds representative events and accommodates diplomats and guests.
When designing the building, special attention was paid to the consistency with the existing environment, which is the green and exclusive backdrop of Zvėrynas. The main purpose of the Czech architects was to merge the complexity of the buildings into a continuous composition. You will be able to evaluate how well they did this for yourself, and to consider how the building reflects the Czech architectural culture in Vilnius.
