Open House Vilnius provides an opportunity to visit one of the most important and best-known Lithuanian modern architecture buildings – the home of the Parliament of Lithuania!
During the tour, please do not expect to see any ornate, luxurious chandeliers and gilded details, because this is a place designed for deputies and servants of the citizens. This is why the architects created an interior that is modest rather than fancy.
Next to the national Martynas Mazvydas Library, the Presidium of the Supreme Council was designed in 1970. The famous Lithuanian architects, the brothers Nasvyciai, won the contest to design the current Lithuanian Parliament Building.
These architects were faced with the challenge of finding a form that was best adapted to its functions, while also connecting the building to the original surroundings.
