About

The Vilna Gaon State Jewish Museum Tolerance Centre is a place where the historical, cultural and architectural context entwine with equal importance. The characterisation and understanding of each of them is the key to unlocking the door to the silent history of the manifold building.

At first, the building housed a cinema and the Maccabi Sports Club Hall. When necessary, the huge space was converted into a Jewish community hall. After World War I, a professional Jewish theatre was established in the building, and cultural and social events of other organisations took place here. In 2001 the building was reconstructed and to this day is a contemporary museum.

Visiting time

2018 April 29 Sun 10am:00–6pm:00

Tours are held every half hour. Last tour on Sunday is at 5.30 pm.
