13. Office building of cooperative union of Lithuania
Naujamiestis
The building of the Vilnius Academy of Arts, located on a slope, meets its visitors with the murmur of the Vilnelė River and begins to tell its story through symbols, colours and unusual lighting as soon as you open the door. This building was quite of an architectural challenge in terms of both a complicated local relief and the attitudes of the authorities at that time.
Constructed in the early 90s of the 20th century, the building merges with the environment and features charming and surprising post-modern solutions, as well as high-tech elements. V. Brėdikis, the main architect of the building, carefully thought of everything from continuous curving railings to the colour of the ceiling – each detail has its own meaning.
